Seven years ago I founded YIMBY Helsinki (Yes In My Back Yard), and have had the pleasure of seeing the fruits of my labours ripen. A new, more urban city plan has been approved. The rail network will expand to Laajasalo and suburban areas with the Crown Bridges (Kruunusillat) connection and the Raide-Jokeri light railway.
Yet much remains to be done, and that is why I’m standing for election as councillor in the Helsinki Municipal Elections in 2017.
I want Helsinki to be a tightly-knit urban city with even better public transport, a wide selection of urban amenities and plenty of housing. Let’s make Helsinki into a successful city that offers every one of us a good place to live and work.
In my Helsinki, everyone can live a good life. This is why all children, both with and without special needs, and their families should be supported, instead of daunted by labyrinthine bureaucracy.
